Taxi to Eilat
Transfers from the centre and from Ben Gurion to Eilat and back, in premium vehicles with one driver for the whole way. Four hours on the road at a price agreed upfront, with no changes and no surprises
Eilat is the longest route we run on a regular basis - around 330 kilometres and about four hours on the road. Whoever books it is usually not after the cheapest way down but the one that works: a family with children and luggage, a group of four splitting the fare, or someone who landed at Ben Gurion at night when there is no connecting flight to Ramon and no bus. The car leaves when you want, stops where you need, and pulls up at the hotel door.
Base one-way price in a private car for up to four passengers, daytime hours.
The route and the roads
There are two ways to Eilat and we choose between them by the hour. Route 40 through Beer Sheva and Mitzpe Ramon is the shorter one, but it includes the descent at Maale HaAtzmaut and long stretches with a single lane each way. Route 90 through the Arava, from the Arava junction south along the border, is about twenty minutes longer but straight and comfortable, and at night it is usually the safer choice. Both routes carry plenty of speed cameras, which our drivers know well. A stop at Kibbutz Yotvata, about forty minutes before Eilat, is almost a tradition and can be requested in advance.
Pickup areas
We set out for Eilat from anywhere in Gush Dan, from Jerusalem, from the Sharon and from Ben Gurion itself, and drop off anywhere in town - the North Beach hotels, Coral Beach, the residential neighbourhoods and Ramon Airport at Timna, about twenty minutes north of the city. In the other direction we collect from Eilat, from Ramon and from the Aqaba border crossing and drive back to the centre or straight to Ben Gurion for an onward flight.
For Eilat it is worth booking a few days ahead rather than on the day. The vehicle and driver are committed to this trip for most of the day, and over holidays and the summer break availability runs out fast. If you are more than three passengers, ask for a seven-seater - the extra is small, and the luggage room on a four-hour drive is worth every shekel.
